Christ Is King – Theonomy and Civil Government
This 68 page paperback offers a brief, but compelling, summary of the biblical and philosophical basis for the “theonomic” view of civil government.
“In a D.Min seminary course that I teach on public theology, God & Politics: Four Views on the Reformation of Civil Government is required reading. I am gratified to see the republication of Greg Bahnsen’s contribution to that volume, as it remains the most mature and clearest argument for the theonomic viewpoint. His renowned intellectual gifts are here on full display. Naturally, his case was debatable when he wrote it (as the subtitle of the book indicates) and it remains so today. Readers across the theological spectrum would do well to revisit and be challenged by this essay. Not only will detractors will find the strongest arguments with which to contend, but many enthusiastic present-day theonomists of the “nationalist” variety may be chastened by Bahnsen’s repudiation of coercion, violence, or revolution to bring about a sanctified body politic.”
“When I first read Christ is King as a chapter in the Geneva College symposium God and Politics, I was convinced it was the best distilled articulation and defense of theonomy Greg Bahnsen had ever written. I still believe that today, and I’m excited about its publication in freestanding form. I’ve noted with gratification a renewed interest in theonomy over the last few years, but I’m occasionally troubled, not only by enemies who misrepresent and distort it, but even by some of its friends, in whose house it is wounded simply because they seem not to understand the nuances Greg articulated almost 40 years ago. This brief but poignant statement should set the matter straight, and whether you end up agreeing or disagreeing with theonomy as Greg masterfully explained it, at least you will have a knowledgeable and objective standard by which to evaluate it.”

Presuppositional Procedure
Here then is how the presuppositional (transcendental) method of defending the faith would proceed once the preliminary discussions and clarifications have taken place with the unbeliever - and the two outlooks now come head to head. The unbeliever says that he knows that miracles are impossible, that a personal almighty God does not exist, that...
Theses on Divorce and Spousal Abuse
At the beginning of human history, prior to man's sinful condition, there was no just ground for divorce. "He said to them, With reference to your hard-heartedness Moses authorized you to divorce your wives, but it has not been so from the beginning" (Matthew 19:8). "From the beginning" (Matt. 19:8) alludes to man's situation when God "made them...
